Friends Taking On Google

By Tiens Muller

myhomepage was started by two well connected young businessmen Massimo Agostinelli and Max Aengevelt who combine their work at myhomepage with their studies at the European School of Business of London and Cass Business School. Which is quite a feat when you look at how far their startup has come in such a short period of time. Within just 12 months, myhomepage have a highly developed password management that has an applied for patent and online bookmarking tool that is up and running on the web. It allows you to save bookmarks online.

They are operating in an expanding and intriguing space and the company is already a major participant in a region in which household names such as Google and Microsoft have expressed an interest. Massimo and Max were close friends since meeting each other at Hurtwood House boarding school in Surrey, England and the friends both have business in their blood. They are both heirs to established and highly successful family businesses which put together high value equity investments all around the world.

But family connections will not provide a free ride. The family businesses have provided the seed funding, yet the founders are also aware that they will be expected to ensure the company is able to stand on its own two feet by receiving more investment from outside investors. Massimo and Max set about achieving their vision for myhomepage in 2009 by putting together a crew of outstanding technical experts, marketing gurus and experienced startup executives. It seeks to become a leading start page that allows users to store organize and automatically log into their bookmarked sites.

Integral to the achievements so far has been the fact that the founders extend the hand of friendship and camaraderie to all the members of the team. The most recent to join the team is the London website design team MintTwist. MintTwist were involved early in its story, having been contracted to re-design the design, look-and-feel and user friendliness. Seeing the value that exists within the company, MintTwist were delighted to come together on even closer ties, through becoming equity partners in myhomepage.

Massimo, Max, MintTwist and the rest of the staff members still have a lot to achieve. And are under no illusions about the difficulties that are in the future; firstly the team must prove that there is traction in the application by significantly raising the number of active users. In the latest twist to their story, it has now been set the challenging goal of getting 50,000 new registrations in just 6 months. But as always the two enigmatic young entrepreneurs are not phased - "We will achieve it", they say.
