By Timothy Tylor

The ear is very important in a person's life. It does not only necessary in providing the sense of hearing but also it makes us complete. A good sense of hearing is an indication that a person can live normally. Without the sense of hearing you will not be able to converse with other people and you cannot enjoy many things. That is why it is important to give proper care and at the same time protect the ears from damage.

It is composed of three parts such as the inner ear, middle ear and the outer ear. Each part has its own specific function and it is important that all the parts of the ear are normally functioning. Keeping the organ and nerves in proper function make the auditory system to work well. The ear is a delicate and sensitive organ that should be protected from different damages.

Without protecting the ears a person would experience any of the different ear problems. Ear infection is one of the ear problems that are very common. It can affect any of the major parts of the ear as it is caused by bacteria, virus and fungi. The symptoms of the ear infection include ear pain, ear blockage, fever, dizziness and worse temporary hearing loss.

Another ear problem is the otitis that infects the different parts of the ear. The otitis externa is also called as swimmer's ear because the infection is caused by the excess moisture after swimming and humid weather. On the other hand, the otitis media is an infection in the middle ear that is a result of infections and allergies as well as obstruction in the Eustachian tube and nutritional deficiency. However, the otitis interna is the result of sinus infection.

Hearing loss is another ear problem that is common to any ages. This ear problem can be permanent or temporary. Aging, ear infections, genetic conditions and ear damage are the common causes of hearing loss. Using of ototoxic drugs, traumatic injuries and perforated eardrum are responsible for losing the sense of hearing.

Aside from the common ear problems stated above, some people also experience tinnitus and Meniere's disease. These two ear problems can rarely happen but you should be aware of its manifestations. The tinnitus manifests a ringing or buzzing sound in the ear that when not given immediate treatment would lead to hearing loss.
