Finding An Eczema Cure

Eczema cannot be healed for good but there are many remedies to help you curb its symptoms. Finding out how to cope with your condition is the most dependable Eczema cure. Most Eczema patients outgrow this skin disease as they mature. Until such time, it's better to arm yourself with the right knowledge to help fight Eczema and prevent succeeding outbreaks.

Abstain from using cleansers and detergents that are heavily colored or perfumed. Solvents and household cleansing agents worsen rashes. Make sure to put on latex gloves when working around the house. Restrict bath time to twenty minutes and use warm or cold water. Heat dries out skin so refrain from taking hot showers. Use a soft towel to dry your skin after washing. Pat gently and avoid scratching skin. Leave a little moisture on the skin before putting on emollients or medicated Eczema cures.

As opposed to popular belief, petroleum jelly is not an Eczema cure. It actually clogs pores and prevents your skin from breathing. Use a non-comedogenic emollient instead. Look for oil-free, hypoallergenic and fragrance-free lotions or creams. Ointments moisturize well, but can get greasy and may stain clothes.

When shopping for clothes, opt for items made with cotton. Refrain from wearing synthetic fibers, which may scratch your skin. Polyester and woolen garments shoud be avoided as well. Friction and sweating worsens Eczema rashes. Choose well-fitting clothes and avoid overly tight garments. Dress appropriately for the weather. Extreme heat and cold may worsen your condition. Reserve application of cosmetics on special occassions. If possible, don't wear any makeup at all. Organic cosmetics are safer alternatives, but be sure to do a skin test first. Hypoallergenic makeup is meant to camouflage rashes, but should not be used as an Eczema cure.

Work out on a regular basis to fight stress and anxiety. Sports and other physical activities are efficient Eczema cures. Just make certain to wear cool and comfortable clothes to avoid excessive perspiration. When swimming in chlorinated pools, make sure to shower afterwards. Wash away any chlorine on your skin, as this can induce skin aggravation. You may want to abstain from playing soccer or any outdoor sport during grass-pollen season.
